Luca Zambito's upcoming quartet album Ancestry presents the diversity of the pianist and his band in a refreshing way.

Together with the three exceptional musicians from Munich, Moritz Stahl on tenor- and soprano-saxophone, Nils Kugelmann on double bass and drummer Valentin Renner, a world of interactive improvisation emerges, whose joy of playing and energy spills over to the listeners.
But lyrical moments with romantic and impressionistic influences also help shape the band's sound, which has a unique freshness due to the special dynamics and interplay of the four musicians.

However, the title Ancestry also has a personal background and refers to origin and its processing from a family, social and artistic perspective. This process inspired some of the pieces on the album and, when listening, leads into a wide field of emotional worlds, their intimate moments, their explosive excesses, but also the playful joy of the process itself.

All in all, an organic mixture between modern post bop and contemporary jazz with freely improvised elements.
Played by four musicians who listen attentively and surprise, so that even when listening you always remain on your toes.
